Y'all, I made a mistake...
I thought I was potentially done with photography and videography when I closed my outdoor elopement business last year (You can read more about there HERE), but the short of it is: I was burnt out and overwhelmed and I just needed a break.
When I started the section in my newsletter called Abodes of Appalachia, I realized just how much this art form is a piece of who I am.
Over the past 14+ years of practicing this craft, photo and video has become second nature - a way I bring my vision and voice into the world.
And I just can't leave that behind.

There was still so much joy for me in the world of capturing stories through photo and video; it just got piled under all the layers of stress and worry. So, I’m finding ways to resurface that first love in the realm of interior design.
It feels weird and scary to be in such a point of wonky transition; the lack of clarity and direction can really pile on the shame. But, I'm trying to remember that sometimes we have to wade through the muck for a while until we find the clear path again.
Therefore, while embracing the messy, I'm exploring ideas to blend these two passions into Evergreen Era:
- Photography & videography of spaces that tell meaningful, heartfelt stories that connect us to the human experience.
AND
- Interior design that inspires wellness and builds stronger communities.
I'm still deciding on how this will look and run logistically, but I'd love your help in the meantime! If you're open and able, here's what I need:
1.
Do you have connections with Asheville area places where I could donate interior decoration services? I'm talking non-profits, low funded schools, small businesses that support important causes, etc. Places that otherwise would not be able to afford a decorator but are working hard to make the world a better place.
2.
Do you know any business owners in the wellness sphere of Asheville who could benefit greatly from professional photography of their already designed spaces? Massage therapists, healthy food restaurants, therapists, etc.
I really want to give back in this way and support the local community, while building my portfolio, clarifying my product/services, and connecting to new people. 😊
I'd be so grateful if you post your connections in the comments or even better: send me a message at kathryn@evergreeneradesign.com ❤️
THANK YOU for following along on this windy road of re-discovery with me. It means so much.
Cheers,
Kathryn
